Slaley Forest with its numerous tracks is a wonderful place to take the dog or children for a fun walk, it is just up the road from Rye Hill Farm. The tracks are fine for bikes or sturdy pushchairs, there are plenty of parking spaces and it is all free. The views towards Hexham are wonderful, you are so high up that you can see far beyond Hexham and the Tyne Valley over to Hadrians Wall, on a clear day you can see Simmonside and the Cheviot Hills in North Northumberland about 50 miles away.
