Features and Facilities
Rye Hill Farmhouse Bed & Breakfast is part of our small, 300-year-old, family run sheep farm, with stunning countryside views across the Tyne Valley and Slaley Forest. The farm is just outside the small village of Slaley off the road towards Hexham, deep in the heart of beautiful Northumberland, within the North Pennines AONB and, is also close to the Northumberland International Dark Sky Park. Our Bed & Breakfast is perfectly placed for visiting Hexham, Corbridge and Slaley Hall, exploring Hadrian's Wall UNESCO World Heritage Site, and for walking or cycling across Blanchland Moor or beside Devil's Water river and in Kielder Forest or across the North Pennines.

Our Bed & Breakfast has 1 double bedroom with a comfortable king size bed; and 2 family rooms which will sleep up to 2 adults and 2 children - a king size bed, a single bed, a trundle bed, and room for a travel cot. Breakfast
Our room price includes a hearty, home cooked full English breakfast of locally produced sausages, our own free range eggs, thick tasty bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes and old fashioned fried bread. There is porridge or cereals with home grown stewed fruits or berries and Yeo Valley yogurt. The brown bread is always homemade as are the jams and marmalade. Wherever possible we will try and accommodate dietary preferences (please let me know in advance).
Other Meals
Other meals can be had from the Rose and Crown Community Pub in Slaley. There are also excellent restaurant and takeaway options only a 15 min drive away in nearby Hexham and Corbridge [ we don’t get deliveries here ]. There is a micro wave and plates etc. on the upstairs landing for takeaways.
Children
Children are very welcome at Rye Hill Farm and there is a discounted rate available for under twelves when occupying the Family Room with adults. We have a high chair and travel cot available for our tiny guests. They are welcome to explore the farm with adult supervision and use our outside play facilities, which include the Mud Pie Kitchen and the Games Barn which has a skittle alley, table tennis and a pool table.
Pets
Our Bed & Breakfast is dog friendly and pets are welcomed, and we don’t charge extra. We only ask two things of you. The first is that your dog is kept on its lead while out and about on the farm. Rye Hill Farm is a working sheep farm (plus our neighbours also have sheep) and we have free range chickens that can pop up anywhere. The second ask is that dog poop is bagged and placed in the bins provided. This keeps grass and tracks pleasant for everyone staying on the farm.
Indoor Facilities
Our rooms are warm and cosy all year round. Wi-Fi is free and available throughout the farm. On the first floor there is a small microwave plus cutlery, in case you should want to heat up a’ brought in meal’ instead of having to eat out . On the ground floor we have a sitting room with two arm chairs and a small sofa where you can relax. There is also extensive local tourist information and a large wall map in this room.
Laundry
We have a laundry room on site which guests are welcome to use. The laundry room has a washer, tumble dryer, ironing board and iron.
Outdoor Facilities
Rye Hill Farm sits on an elevated position with superb views of the surrounding countryside. Because it is at the end of our own tarmacked lane it is a peaceful location - well away from noise and traffic. Guests are welcome to explore the farm and meet our sheep, ponies and chickens. There is seating on our patio and plenty of outdoor play areas, and table tennis, skittles and a pool table in our games barn. There is also a cycle storage shed.
Parking
We have plenty of free parking space at Rye Hill Farm.
